The VA’s Aid and Attendance benefit is one of the most valuable and underutilized programs available to senior veterans and their families.
It can help pay for non-medical in-home care — but navigating the eligibility rules, forms, and timelines can feel like a full-time job.
At Proper Home Care, we help veterans and surviving spouses access this benefit with step-by-step, compassionate support.
You focus on your loved one’s well-being — we’ll help with the rest.
What Is the Aid and Attendance Benefit?
Aid and Attendance is a monthly VA pension supplement that provides financial assistance for eligible veterans or surviving spouses who need help with daily activities.
This benefit can offset or fully cover the cost of in-home care services, including:
- Personal care
- Meal preparation
- Medication reminders
- Assistance with mobility, dressing, and hygiene
- Companionship and daily routine support
Who Qualifies for Aid and Attendance?
- The veteran served at least 90 days of active duty, with one day during a wartime period
- The veteran received a non-dishonorable discharge
- The applicant (veteran or surviving spouse) is 65+ and requires help with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
